If your family is looking for a new activity in 2018, then maybe you should consider ice fishing! On Saturday, January 20th at the Horsethief Reservoir, kids will have the chance to learn how to ice fish for free at the 9th Annual Youth Ice Fishing Day.

This is a unique opportunity sponsored by Idaho Youth Outdoors, a non-profit created by parents who wanted to encourage kids to get outside.

From 10am to 3pm, your family can learn a new winter hobby! Make sure you dress warmly for the weather. Pull on a pair of waterproof boots to keep your feet dry in the slushy snow. You might consider bringing an extra pair of shoes and socks. Hand warmers are another great idea!

Pack a seat for each person in your party. And if you have a sled, it can be handy for transporting over the ice.

Hot dogs, bottled water, and hot chocolate will be provided for the kids, but supplies are limited. It’s a good idea to bring food and beverages.

There’s no need for a fishing license for this event, but bring your own fishing gear if you have it. Rods will be available to loan for those who need it. Tackle and gear will be provided.

Dress warmly, make sure your car is winter ready, and be prepared for a day full of learning and fun! For more information, visit the Idaho Youth Outdoors website.https://www.idahoyouthoutdoors.org/
