There may not be any flowers blooming in the gardens, but there’s plenty of beauty to be seen in the winter. Help the Idaho Botanical Gardens celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Winter Garden aGlow event by viewing more than 300,000 lights that light up the 11 acres of the exhibit.

It takes over 1,000 hours to put up the display, and two months to take it back down again. The display receives its power thanks to 2.5 miles of extension cords.

Santa Claus and the reindeer Prancer will be at the gardens on Friday, December 9 ,through Monday, December 12, Friday, December 16 to Monday, December 19, and Thursday, December 22 to Saturday, December 24.

The Holiday Express, a G-scale model train, will be winding it’s way through the English garden almost every night. Local choirs can also be heard singing festive tunes on most days. View the calendar to see what choirs are singing when.

If you’re bringing along kids, or enjoy a good scavenger hunt yourself, then pick up or print off a copy of the Winter Garden aGlow scavenger hunt.

You can purchase tickets at the gardens, or here in advance. Complimentary cider, cocoa, and cookies will be available, though donations are encouraged!
