Small Business Saturday on November 28 is the perfect way to find unique gifts while supporting the local economy.

Love waking up early on Friday to fight the crowds for a discounted flat screen? Great, you can shop the big box stores on Friday, then explore locally owned businesses on Saturday. Would rather spend the day after Thanksgiving recovering from a turkey coma? You'll be plenty rested from filling your plate for Small Business Saturday.

What better way to support the Boise economy than purchasing presents at a local business? Small Business Saturday was created by American Express in 2010 to encourage people to shop at locally owned stores the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Boise businesses participate in this yearly event and you can too!

Pick up or print a passport for when you shop the stores on State Street on November 28. Get the passport stamped at each participating store to be entered to win prizes. You can find more information on the event here. Peruse the unique offerings of Re-Pop Gifts for those dedicated fans in your life. This store offers products featuring classics such as Star Wars and Superman. You can find beautiful handmade items at Bee Wise Goods, and even grab a delicious cookie at Boise Bakery. Know someone who loves items for their home? Then swing by Cloth and Gatherings. The stores will be open on State Street from 9am to 8pm on Saturday, November 28.

Downtown Boise is also participating in Small Business Saturday. Stop by Rediscovered Books to encounter authors acting as booksellers! They'll happily give you recommendations as you snack on cookies and hot cider. Mixed Greens will be open from 9am to 6pm on Saturday, providing you plenty of time to enjoy a 20 percent discount and free gift wrapping. There are numerous stores (and restaurants!) participating in the day, so make sure you visit the page for all the details.
