PULSEPOINT 911 APP HELPS SAVE LIVES OF CARDIAC ARREST VICTIMS

The PulsePoint 911 app has been adopted by first respondents of Ada County to help save lives.

When someone is having a cardiac arrest, the app alerts all first responders in the county to proceed to the location. When a call is made to 911,  the dispatch center activates the alert on the app at the same time that the fire and EMS responders head out.

The PulsePoint 911 app enables locals to use their lifesaving skills to save their neighbors.

Ada County is requesting that citizens who know CPR to download the app in order to help first responders save those in need.

That way those who know CPR and are located nearby can begin assistance with CPR before the responders arrive, increasing the chances of survival. The PulsePoint 911 app also informs users as to the location of the closest Automated External Defibrillator (AED).

Dennis Doan, Boise’s Fire Chief, told KIVI that Ada County has a response time of five minutes 90 percent of the time.

But this tool will help CPR trained individuals provide aid, enabling those affected to receive oxygen during those minutes of waiting for first responders.
