The Boise State Dance Marathon not only is raising money for a great cause, but it’s a great excuse for you to put on your dancing shoes!
On Sunday, February 24th at 3pm, dancers will take the floor for charity and continue moving their feet until 8am on Saturday, February 25th. Students from Boise State and community members will dance their way to promoting a non-profit that helps so many others.
The Boise State Dance Marathon group is dedicated to raising money and awareness for the local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital: St. Luke’s Children’s Hospital. The group holds several efforts throughout the year for the non-profit, including raising $17,000 in one day, with the final, big event being the dance marathon.
Dancers will spend 17 hours on the dance floor to raise awareness and money for the Children’s Miracle Network. The group says that the exhaustion that the dancers face gives them a perspective of the great challenges that the children that are supported by the non-profit.
If you don’t think your dance moves are up to par, don’t worry. This contest is less about showing off the latest moves, and more about a community coming together to support a great charity. If you’re still not sure about dancing, or if you want to help but can’t attend, then you can be a virtual dancer.
Each dancer must have a fundraising goal of at least $50. You can register for the event here.
Dance Marathons occur all around the nation on campuses for the Children’s Miracle Network. Students spend a year dedicated to the organization as they learn leadership skills, raise funds, and get involved in the community. The events are more than just dancing—patient families are in attendance, games are played, and the organization announces how much money they have raised for the non-profit.
