When Tahirih Cahill started Art Party Boise, she knew she needed a creative business that didn’t require a storefront, wouldn’t take time away from her young sons, and could be run debt-free.

Using her direct sales background, Cahill designed her first Art Party for friends and came home glowing.

“I need to be doing this,” she remembers thinking. Cahill loved that, as a mom, she could bring this creative outlet to other moms. “I can’t tell you how many babies I’ve seen nursing," she said. "Where else can you do that?"

Art Party Boise brings the painting party to your house for you and your friends.

She determines what artwork the painting parties will create based on popular trends that have mass appeal. Cahill knows that many of her guests haven’t painted since elementary school (many are elementary school students) and plans her lessons accordingly. Every artwork needs to be recreated within two hours. The parties are fun for her and give her an outlet to play with trendy ideas while keeping those designs out of her studio work.

“It gives me freedom to make meaningful art that looks beyond the trends,” she said.

Art Party Boise resulted in new ideas and a passion for her. “I started studying the neurological effect and value of creativity and went down this nerdy rabbit hole,” she said. That studying turned into a new business idea called Illuminary, that will be for more traditional workplaces.

“It will use art to help people reconnect, to be creative without having to be artistic,” she said. It’s the evolution of Art Party and one that “opens the team-building door wider.” Cahill plans to work with both "solopreneurs" and CEOs to custom tailor Illuminary to meet company needs to get results. “Creativity is not an abstract. When you engage, you get X, Y, and Z results,” Cahill said. The idea is to pull more innovative thought from business leaders and their employees.

Illuminary will launch later this year. In the meantime, Art Party Boise is taking appointments for kid events, corporate team-building, and other get-togethers. Be sure to check the website for pop-up studios in fun locations throughout the Treasure Valley.
