Shoot for the moon and you may land at STEM Moon Shot, a part of Boise State University’s Engineering and Science Festival.

Kids from ages 7 to 14 will have the chance to be a part of building an 11.5 foot tall model of the 1969 Saturn V Moon Rocket out of LEGO bricks. On February 3rd, Scott Bowman is partnering with the Idaho STEM ActionCenter, Micron, Idaho LUG, and IDEABrickWorks to tackle this massive building project.

Participants will be broken up into groups to compile the layers of the rocket model using LEGOs. The project will consist of 373 layers and more than 30,000 LEGOs. Each child will get to build for 30 minutes between 9am and 4pm, when the project needs to be completed.Image title

A lucky few - 1,700 kids - will get to build their own smaller 1969 Saturn V Moon Rocket model to take home.

There will also be the opportunity to free build with plenty of LEGOs on hand for kids to express their creativity. Or, maybe they want to compete against other kids their age in the Design within Constraints competition.

This is a free event, but you must register here to participate: https://www.facebook.com/events/2024797187732146/?ti=icl
